Daddy's Response To The Fantastic News
We are elated to announce that Will is going to be a big brother in the beginning of October. I am 14 weeks along. I have also been blessed with the same condition I had with Will; an incarcerated uterus, which decided to make an appearance and stop me from being able to urinate yesterday while we were at Bill's 20th Anniversary Fraternity Formal weekend. We had to add a trip to the ER in Erie PA to get a urinary catheter put in to our list of festivities. According to my OB's office, they usually see a case of this a year. What are the odds that it would happen to me with both my pregnancies at 14 weeks? It is a small price to pay to have a baby, but it is a very uncomfortable, and hopefully transient, bump in the road. When we were leaving the ER, our wonderful nurse said she wanted to give us something that would remind us that this little "bump" in the road will all be worth it. She then handed us a newborn diaper to take home with us. I thought that was so sweet of her to do, and it almost brought tears to my eyes (those darn pregnancy hormones). I am happy to say that it seems the nausea has gone away, but I am still plagued with really bad migraines.
We had our first ultrasound on Thursday April 1. We found it very appropriate, since it was April Fools Day, to tell both sets of grandparents that we were having twins. We could have convinced both grandmas but the grandpas caught on to our ploy. Bill did make sure to verify with the ultrasound technician that there was only one baby, since twins run in my family. It was so great to see "Bean" for the first time. Will really enjoyed watching the ultrasound and kept saying, "Hi Baby Bean". At one point Will said, "Baby Bean come out". We had to remind him that it would be several more months before "Bean" would come out. We are due on October 11 and will have a scheduled c- section sometime the week before, provided I have no problems with pre- eclampsia this pregnancy.
