Will has been starting to scoot around quite well on his butt. He still has no interest in learning to crawl. We asked the pediatrician if we should be concerned and she said no. With him being 6 weeks premature, it is fairly common that they take longer to develop the gross motor skills needed to crawl and walk. Her only concern is that his mind is going to continue to develop and she doesn't want him to start to get really frustrated or throw tantrums because he can't move. We had an initial consultation with Early Intervention Services last week and are waiting to have him evaluated. The program, if he is eligible, is basically physical therapy for babies. The pediatrician is very impressed with his fine motor skills and thinks it will just take some time before he is ready to be mobile. We are certainly okay with him still being fairly immobile, especially since it will be a whole new way of life once we have a mobile child. Another tooth came in a few days ago, which brings his total tooth count to 4.

Katie, I admire how amazingly you work with Will. Hold these days close to your heart, he'll be running around before you know it. Let us know what the EI people say. I hope Will's feeling better too.
