I was induced on Monday morning. Things slowly were progressing. After being on Pitoccin for 16 hours I was 4 1/2 cm dilated and decided to get an epidural. Once I reached the highest dose of Pitoccin I could receive, I still was only 4 1/2 cm dilated. At that point, my doctor commended me for my efforts to attempt a VBAC, but the reality was that it was not going to happen. We changed our plan and I was prepped for another c- section.
Witney Marie Zink was born on Tuesday October 5, 2010 at 2:53 am. She weighed 8 lbs 13 oz and was 21 inches long.
Will Checking To See If
"Baby Bean" Is Still In My Tummy
Witney was born one week early due to my pre- eclampsia, etc. We were really happy that I was able to stay pregnant as long as I did, since my blood pressure started to become an issue at 28 weeks. Being full term, we thought we were out of the realms of the NICU. Once Witney was 12 hours old, we realized that was not the case. She lost the ability to keep her blood glucose stable, even with formula supplementation, so she was admitted into the NICU for 36 hours. Bill and I were devastated, as we did not want to go to the NICU at all with Witney. She did really well in the NICU and only had to stay for a brief visit. The doctors suspect that I may have been borderline gestational diabetic by the time I delivered Witney and that caused the unstable blood glucose.
On Friday, October 8 Witney and I were ready to be discharged. Bill and I were super excited to get our baby girl home and begin our life as a family of 4!
When Will got home from Grandma and Grandpa Wallace's, he was not sure what to think of Witney being home. With all the commotion, he gave us a hard time going down for nap. Once he finally fell asleep, this is what we found...
After Will's nap, I asked him what happened to his pull up. His answer was simple; "It fell off".
