Pittsburgh Weekend Getaway

This weekend was our annual trip to Pittsburgh for Bill's fraternity fantasy football draft (say that 10 times fast). We left Thursday afternoon and headed down to Erie, where we spent the night at our friend Thom and Leah's apartment. Will got to spend some time with their 3 year old son Eli, and he loved playing with all of his toys. Friday morning we headed out first thing and went to the Penn State Behrend Campus, where Bill went to college. We walked around campus and showed Will the gorge, the Nittany Lion, and we stopped at the bookstore and got Will his first PSU board book textbook.

Then we headed to the Erie Zoo and stopped at the Grove City Outlet Mall before getting to our final destination in Monaca, PA. We really enjoyed getting to spend time with good friends that we don't get to see too often, and we even surprised Bill with another Birthday cake.

Happy 30th Birthday Bill!

Today is Bill's birthday. We had a great day of hanging out with family. We met Grandma and Grandpa Zink, Great- Grandpa Povio, and Great- Aunt Donna and Great- Uncle Bruce at Walmart in the morning for coffee. Then after Will's nap we took him to Chuck E Cheese for a bit and met up with Grandma and Grandpa Zink and Great- Grandpa Povio at Red Lobster for an early birthday dinner. Then they all came back to the house for cake. Today Will's 2nd molar broke through the gumline; his lower left 1 year molar. He did not let that bother him one bit and had a great time celebrating his daddy's birthday!

Last night we had Grandma and Grandpa Wallace over for steak and cake and then Grandma Wallace, Bill, and I went to see Harry Potter at the IMAX while Grandpa Wallace watched Will. Of course the 3-D projector was broken so we did not get to see the 3-D part, but we still had a good time.

Trip To The Fire Station

Today the MOM's club had a field trip scheduled to go and tour a local Fire House. Grandma Wallace was planning to spend the day with us, so the three of us went to the tour. We started off with one of the fire man teaching the children that if they ever have to come to their house "in uniform" not to be afraid of them. Fire Man Scott started off in regular street clothes and then slowly got changed into his fire fighting outfit. Then he crawled around and shook the children's hands to show that he was not scary. Will did not seem to enjoy that part and waited until he took his mask off to give him a semi- smile. Then we toured the firehouse and finished with the kids getting to climb in the fire engine. It was a lot of fun. I think Will enjoyed "driving" the fire truck the best.

Tonight we went out for an early celebration of Bill's 30th Birthday. We went with our friends "Aunt" Rebecca and "Uncle" Matt to the Tokyo, our favorite Hibachi restaurant. Will gets the VIP treatment when we are there. We were not inside for 2 seconds and May, our favorite waitress, took Will from us and showed him the fish. Then she brought Will out some Tofu, which he loves, and ice cream for dessert. Will even tried some edamame and seemed to enjoy it. We sang Happy Birthday to Bill and Will got to hit the gong. As always, it was an excellent meal.

Exciting News

I can't believe this day has finally come!!!

I have very patiently waited 19 1/2 months for Will to take his first steps and today was the day it happened! I was actually the only one who got to see it. Who knows how long it will take for him to do it again, but I am so glad I was there to witness it. We were at grandma and grandpa Wallace's house and he was pushing one of the kitchen chairs around the house while walking behind it. We got into the foyer and one of the wheels got stuck on the carpet. He decided to let go of the chair, and walked two steps over to the stairs, and proceeded to climb them. I almost didn't believe that it actually happened. I tried to get him to do it again but of course he did not cooperate. I am so proud of him; way to go Will!!!

Even More Cousin Time

Uncle Jeff, Aunt Robyn, and Cousins Rylie and Avery came up from Rhode Island for another week long visit. It was so great to get to see them for two weeks this summer! It is always nice to let the cousins get together and interact with each other. We went to the zoo on Tuesday, visited with the sunflowers and went to Seabreeze on Thursday, went to the canal and fed the ducks and had ice cream Thursday night, and went out to Sakura Home for dinner on Friday night. As always, it was great to see them, and we are looking forward to seeing them again soon!
